Vintage photo of Andy Warhol, by Christopher Makos

taken in 1981 at the Factory, 860 Broadway, NYC, this image was published in a 1988 book titled "Warhol-Makos".   Warhol was 51,.  In August 1992, there were two Warhol exhibitions - in Tel Aviv, Israel and this image was included on one of the shows.   (Label on rear of photo frame).  One exhibit was at the Tel Aviv Museum of art, with an inscription on the back.

Notes:  Christopher Makos (born 1948) was an American photographer and artist who apprenticed with Man Ray in Paris .  He later collaborated with Warhol, and showed him how to use his first camera. Makos inrtroduced him to the work of Basquiat and Keith Haring.  Makos's work has been in the permanent collections of more than 100 museums and private collections, including those of Malcolm Fobers, Pedro Almodovar and Gianni Versace.  Warhol called Makos 'the most modern photographer in America."Andy Warhol died  seven years after this photo was taken, on February 22, 1987 at the age of 58 as a result of gall bladder surgery.
